During the preseason, many wondered who would be the starter come regular season -- Kyle Orton or Tim Tebow. He went with (clearly) the better quarterback, in Kyle Orton, and had almost no success. After the season looked to be in disarray for the Broncos, he switched the starting quarterback before it was too late.
Tim Tebow's success is not because Tim Tebow is a good quarterback. It's because John Fox gave him the system he knows how to work best, which almost no other head coach in the NFL would have done. He's giving Tebow a chance to be a starter. While he isn't throwing as good as Aaron Rodgers, or even as good as Mark Sanchez, he's still winning games because of the offense he is in.
Not only has Fox made the correct moves there, but he also had a spectacular draft in April. Von Miller has proven to be an absolute stud, and has racked up 9 1/2 sacks so far this season, good for third behind only Jared Allen and DeMarcus Ware. Their second round draft pick, Rahim Moore, has started six games. Third round pick Orlando Franklin has started all games at right tackle, and has progressed to being one of the better right tackles in the league as the season's went on.
Their acquisitions have been pretty good, too. Brodrick Bunkley has risen to be a force, even making the best center in the league (Nick Mangold) have a poor day this past week. Willis McGahee, the former Baltimore Raven, stole the starting gig from oft-injured Knowshon Moreno, and has ran for 658 yards and 3 touchdowns on 139 carries. With a 4.7 average yards per carry, he's on track to get 1,000 yards this season, his first since 2007 (his first year with the Ravens). With Moreno out for the year, he will look to get even more carries as the season progresses, since the Broncos don't have much depth behind the 30-year-old.
He has brought a great attitude to the Denver Broncos team, along with John Elway. They have won their last three games, and have done so impressively, and while Tim Tebow is getting a lot of the praise for bringing this team from the dirt, it's really John Fox's adapting to his players that's really working.
